Greet shoppers at the right moment, without writing code.
Build chat flows by adding steps on a canvas. Start them when a shopper is about to leave, adds to cart, or opens a page you pick. On Team and Scale, test two messages to see which one sells more.

When a flow starts
Proactive flows show a message bubble. You can wait a few seconds before it shows.
Before they ask
- First visit, or a returning visitor
- Opens a page you pick
- About to leave the page
- Scrolls part way down
- Adds to cart
- Leaves a full cart sitting idle
- A date and time you set
- Your own event, from your site's code
During a chat
- Opens the chat
- Sends any message
- Uses a keyword you choose
- Hasn't replied for a while
- Your team hasn't replied
- Chat marked solved
What a flow can do
Talk
Send messages, buttons and quick replies, card carousels and forms.Decide
Branch on the page, device, language, day and time, returning visitors or cart value.Act
Tag the chat, create a ticket, assign a person, send an email, notify your team, or hand over to the AI.Sell on Shopify
Show products and picks, check stock, send a discount code, check an order or estimate shipping.
Need data from another tool? An API step calls your own web address and uses the answer in the flow.
Test, then keep the winner
A Randomize step splits visitors between two or more versions. Pick a goal: flow finished, lead captured or order placed. Chattoko shows each version's conversion rate and tells you when there's a clear winner. It needs about 30 chats per version first.
Your flows list shows how often each flow ran and how many finished, plus the leads and, with Shopify, the sales from chats with a flow. Analytics breaks leads and sales down by flow, on Team and Scale. Turn on Analyze to see where visitors drop off, step by step.
Start from a template
Pick a ready-made flow and change the words to fit. Templates include a flash sale, cross-sell after add-to-cart, a free-gift threshold, win-back for returning visitors, a thank-you after purchase, booking requests, quote requests, callback requests, an after-hours message, complaint triage and return requests.
Bundles install a few flows that work together, such as recovering carts and recommending products. They install switched off, so you check each one before it goes live.
Flows run in your website chat
Flows run in the Chattoko chat on your website or your Shopify store. More about live chat.
Questions people ask
Do I need to know how to code?
No. You add steps on a canvas and connect them. Code is only needed for two optional things: reporting a cart from a non-Shopify site, and firing your own custom events.
Which plans include flows?
Every plan can build and run flows. Conversion goals and A/B test results are on Team, Team Chat, Scale and Scale Chat.
How does exit intent work?
When the visitor's mouse leaves the top of the page, as if heading for the back button or another tab, your message shows. It works on computers, where there's a mouse.
Do cart triggers work outside Shopify?
On Shopify they work by themselves. On another site, your developer can report the cart to the chat with one line of code.
Can a flow hand over to the AI or a person?
Yes. Add an AI Response step to let the AI answer, or an Assign to an agent step to bring in your team.
Can I edit flows on my phone?
You can view them on a phone. To edit a flow, open Chattoko on a computer.
