Five jobs it handles

The calls that pull you away from the oven, answered the way you would answer them.

  • Orders and pre-orders

It takes orders for today or a later day. If a product needs a message, like a name on a cake, it asks what to write. It reads the whole order back before it puts it through.

  • Pickup and delivery times

Connect Zapiet and the AI offers only the days and times your calendar has open. Cakes that need more notice get later days.

  • Hours and what's sold out

It knows your opening hours and today's date and time at your shop. It answers from your Shopify catalog, so it knows which products show as sold out.

  • Ingredients and allergies

It answers ingredient questions from your product descriptions. It never says a product is safe for an allergy. You can have allergy questions handed to you.

  • Catering and big orders

For a big order from your menu, it gives the total and can put it through. Anything custom comes to you with the details: what they want and for how many.

From ring to paid

Here is one phone order, start to finish.

  1. A customer calls
  2. The AI takes the order
  3. A draft order in Shopify
  4. You approve it
  5. A link to pay, by text or email
  6. They pay and pick it up

Phone orders are off until you turn them on. In Integrations ▸ Shopify, switch on "Send checkout links as draft orders", then "Take orders on calls". "Wait for approval on every phone order" starts on, so each phone order waits for your OK unless you switch it off. You can also hold chat orders with a note, an allergy or a total over an amount you pick. Callers never give card details on the phone: they pay on Shopify's checkout.

The link goes by text only from a number that can send texts. In Australia that is a mobile number with an approved business check; a landline, such as an 07 number, can't text. Then the link goes by email or into the customer's chat.

Your busiest hours, covered

  • Before you open

Set the AI to answer outside opening hours. Early callers get their answers and can order for later in the day.

  • The lunch rush

Your phone rings first. If nobody picks up, the AI answers. You choose how long it rings.

  • After you close

The AI takes tonight's calls and orders for tomorrow. If a call is still missed, the caller can get a text with a link to chat.

Set it up

  1. Get a number

Get a new local number in Australia, the US or Canada. Or forward the number you have now to it. To send texts from an Australian number, you need a mobile number, and that needs a one-time business check first. It usually takes 1–3 business days.

  2. Install the Shopify app

Install Chattoko from the Shopify App Store and sync your products. The chat on your store can be live in minutes. Then, in Integrations ▸ Shopify, switch on "Send checkout links as draft orders" and "Take orders on calls". Shopify asks you to approve draft orders first. "Wait for approval on every phone order" starts on. How it works with Shopify.

  3. Add your menu and FAQs

Your Shopify products are the menu the AI reads. Add your FAQs and your shop rules, like how much notice a custom cake needs. You can also import pages from your website or a PDF.

  4. Test it

Ask the AI anything in the playground, as a chat or as a phone call. Then tap Call me to test: your phone rings from your business number, so you hear what callers hear.

Which plan?

Solo comes with one number. Here is how to check whether it fits your shop. Prices are in US dollars.

A quieter shop. Your team answers most calls. The AI takes the ones you can't get to: say 1 a day, 2 minutes each, 26 days a month. About 52 AI voice minutes a month. Solo fits: it includes 70 a month, for $139/mo.

A busier shop. The AI answers 3 calls a day instead. About 156 AI voice minutes a month. Team fits: it includes 200 a month, for $299/mo. Solo's AI can go up to twice its 70 minutes, then stops.

Calls your team answers in Chattoko use your plan's call minutes. A call that rings through to your own mobile uses 3 of them for each minute.

Questions people ask

I don't use Shopify. Can it still take orders?

It still answers calls and chats from your menu, hours and FAQs. To put an order through and send a link to pay, it needs your Shopify store and the Chattoko app from the Shopify App Store. Without Shopify, it takes the order as a message so your team can call the customer back.

What about allergies?

The AI answers ingredient questions from your product descriptions. It never tells a customer that a product is safe for an allergy or free of an allergen. You can add allergy questions to the topics it always hands to your team. When a customer adds an allergy note to an order, the order waits for your OK before the payment link goes out.

Can I keep my phone number?

Yes. On day one, forward your number to your new Chattoko number, and callers ring the number they know. To move the number itself to Chattoko, email support@chattoko.io and we will do the port with you. A port can take up to six weeks.

What about public holidays and opening hours?

Set your weekly hours once, and the AI tells customers when you're open. It knows today's date and time at your shop. Add your holiday dates, and calls on those days follow your closed-hours step. Going on a break? Set a closure with a short message callers hear first. Put special hours, like Christmas hours, in an FAQ and the AI will say them.

What if the AI gets an order wrong?

It reads the whole order back and asks before it puts it through. By default, every phone order waits for your OK, and you can fix the draft in Shopify before you approve it. If the customer changes their mind on the call, the AI puts the new order through and the old payment link stops working.

Do I need Zapiet?

No. Without Zapiet, the AI takes the order and the customer picks pickup or delivery at Shopify's checkout. With Zapiet connected, the AI offers only the pickup and delivery times your Zapiet calendar has open, and puts the time on the order.

Let the AI take the next order call.
